Founded in 1978, Intrepid Industries Inc. is a plastics manufacturing company that specializes in making a strong polyurethane called Instant Set Polymer (ISP). The process used to make this plastic is called Reaction Injection Molding (RIM). This polyurethane is a great substitute for metal, wood, and ceramic!

Although now located in La Porte, Texas, the first location was in Freeport, Texas, USA.

Started manufacturing bus bar insulators for electrochemical processes. ISP is strong with excellent outdoor weatherability. It is also a great insulator in low voltage, high amperage conditions.

Invented a single bar safety gate that relied on gravity to close instead of springs.

With the growth of safety gate sales, we decided to move from Freeport to Pasadena, TX. This placed us strategically within reach of the petrochemical industry.

While OSHA didn’t mandate a midrail on safety gates at the time, everyone knew it was coming. In anticipation of the change, we invented our gravity closing double bar safety gate.

After hearing complaints about welded banding for toeboard, we decided to invent round collars that could be bolted from the top-side that offer the required protection around openings on elevated platforms.

Engaged our first international distributor in Europe. Today we have distributor relationships all over the world.

Continuing to experience extreme growth, we purchased land and built a new manufacturing facility.

To have a safer, more efficient, manufacturing process, we automated our molding stations.

Invented a directional aerial marker to assist pilots with gas line location in overgrown areas.

With our growing portfolio of plastic safety products, we saw this as a great fit. Safety hooks are an essential part in elevating a housekeeping program by keeping cords, cables, leads, hoses, etc. off the ground reducing tripping hazards.

Growing our plastic safety product portfolio, we saw Glove Guard® products as an outstanding option for keeping PPE on an individual. By doing so, PPE doesn’t get lost, and or broken, and the person is more likely to use it since they don’t have to go searching.

This invention made universal installation possible. It can be installed in either direction with no modifications or adjustments. It is ready to be installed right out of the box and still needs no springs or mechanisms to close, only gravity. (U.S. Patent No. 8,365,358 & 8,413,380; European Patent No. 2662519)

Invented for greater flexibility compared to the GPC. Whereas the GPC is limited to only encircling small openings, toeboard links can surround all shapes and sizes. (U.S. Patent No. D1,014,794 S)

Ownership chose an ESOP as their succession plan as a way to transition ownership to the employees. We are proudly 100% employed owned.

We saw a need for safety gates in warehouses and therefore invented the PG. It’s a lighter, economical option that offers ground protection for pedestrian walkways that intersect forklift, and/or other moving device, traffic.

Using our knowledge of robotics automation and end of arm tooling, we started offering our services to others.

After customer request to keep cables and cords separate, we invented High 5® Hooks. This separation allows for reduced heat buildup, minimal interference, less entanglement, and quicker identification. (U.S. Patent No. D957918, D957919, D957920, and 11,815,122)

As we continue to increase our line of plastic safety products, we included these tracks as a great way to suspend cords and cables in situations where hanging a hook isn’t an option.
